João Lourenço defends closer relations with Portugal

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, considers that the continuous strengthening of friendship and cooperation relations between Angola and Portugal will favor the implementation of the various initiatives and projects of mutual interest.

The Head of State, who made this consideration in a message to the Portuguese counterpart, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, congratulating him on Portugal Day, added that these initiatives and projects will help to boost Angola’s development and consolidate Portugal’s achievements , in all areas of the national life of that European country.

“I have the honor, on behalf of the Angolan People, the Executive and on my own, to congratulate the People, the Portuguese Government and Your Excellency, on the celebration of the 10th of June, National Day of Portugal”, wrote João Lourenço.

The President also expresses the certainty that Portugal, when celebrating its National Day, will also be celebrating important achievements in terms of health, for the exemplary and effective way in which it has so far managed to control and contain the spread of contamination caused by Covid-19.
