Portuguese living in Europe go through difficulties

The presence of Portuguese in the queues to receive food aid baskets in Switzerland is just one of the signs of how the crisis caused by the covid-19 is affecting emigrants, in a dimension that is now beginning to be evaluated.

“They are not the majority, but I saw many Portuguese people go and get the food baskets, which surprised me”, says the adviser of the communities in Switzerland. José Inácio Sebastião recently participated in an initiative to offer food baskets in Geneva and was surprised to see so many Portuguese people making use of this offer. “Most of the people who need this help come from Latin America, but there are also many Portuguese people affected by the loss of income”, he reveals.
