China today pledged to retaliate against the United States’ decision to limit the entry of Chinese citizens into its territory and to impose trade sanctions on Hong Kong.
“Any statement or action that harms China’s interests will have a strong counterattack,” warned Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a press conference.
“China asks the United States to immediately correct its mistakes and abandon the Cold War mentality,” he added. On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will ban the entry of Chinese citizens who pose a “risk” to the country’s security.
