Durão Barroso, former president of the European Commission (EC), considers that Portugal will be among the countries most affected in economic terms due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The current non-executive President of Banco Goldman Sachs International praises the social behavior of Portugal and the Portuguese in the fight against the virus, but he also does not doubt that the scenario will be quite different with regard to the economic impact in the country.
“From an economic point of view, it will suffer more than many European countries. The confinement measures have brought the economy to a standstill and we are more exposed than others, mainly due to the great weight of tourism and all the activities around it, and the recovery will take longer”, he said in an interview with Rádio Comercial.
