Three buses hit by bullets in central Mozambique

A string of armed attacks on three buses on Sunday left one dead and three seriously injured in central Mozambique

The three buses were hit by bullets, according to witnesses, with shots fired from a hill, shortly after 7:00 am (6:00 am in Lisbon) when they traveled 30 kilometers north of Inchope, the main road crossing in central Mozambique.

The occurrence was recorded in the area of ​​Matenga, district of Nhamatanda, along the national road N1. “It was a quick thing. We only saw the car being washed down by bullets in the woods,” the driver of one of the buses told Lusa, according to which “a lady died and three other people were injured”.

Two buses from the Nagi Investiment company connected Beira-Quelimane and Chimoio-Nampula, while the third City Link vehicle made the Beira-Nampula section. A video circulated on social media shows a Nagi Investiment bus with several broken side windows and bullet holes, parked on Sunday, on the sidewalk of Gorongosa’s rural hospital.
