Last week, Africa recorded 20,400 new cases of covid-19, bringing the total number of infections on the continent to over 72,000, where 2,475 people have already died from the disease, according to data released this Thursday.
According to the figures, presented, from Addis Ababa, by the director of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control of the African Union (AU), John Nkengasong, Africa records 72,336 accumulated cases of infection with the new coronavirus and 2,475 deaths in 54 countries.
