“Difficult years expected”, but Vatican denies risk of bankruptcy

Mayor of the Vatican’s Secretariat for Economy speaks of a drop in income between 25% and 45%.

The Vatican is going through a serious crisis and will have to adjust the budget in the face of a possible drop in income between 25% and 45%, but it is not at risk of bankruptcy, a official said on Wednesday.

“There is no risk of bankruptcy,” but “difficult years are expected,” Spanish Jesuit Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves, newly appointed mayor of the Vatican’s Economy Secretariat, told the Vatican press.
