For long time, it was thought this was just one of those stories, kind of an “urban myth”. But it’s real: stress can make your hair gray. And once it changes color, it can never come back, say scientists.

Why can stress turn your hair white?
According to Daily Mail, a Harvard University study on rats found that what origins gray hair is the norepinephrine, a hormone released when the body enters into “fight or run” mode. Under immense stress, norepinephrine is released into the blood, where it increases the heart rate and prepares the body to respond to a threat.
