The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, welcomed today the agreement reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing hope that it will serve to bring an immediate end to the conflict, including in Lebanon. In a note published on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic,
António José Seguro also stated he expects that the implementation of the accord “will bring the peace, security, and stability indispensable for the development of the entire region, and allow for the resumption of free movement through the Strait of Hormuz.”

“Portugal will always stand on the side of seeking diplomatic solutions and respecting international law, and expresses its gratitude for the efforts of all parties involved in the mediation,” the President of the Republic added.
