Spanish international defender Marc Cucurella has signed with Real Madrid until 2032, joining a squad that will be managed by Portuguese coach José Mourinho, the Spanish La Liga club announced today.
“Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Marc Cucurella, who will remain linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032,” the Merengues stated in an official announcement.
While Real Madrid did not disclose the financial details involved in signing the 27-year-old—who is currently competing in the 2026 World Cup with Spain—the Spanish press estimates the investment to be upwards of 55 million euros.
The left-back represents the first official reinforcement for José Mourinho’s team. Mourinho is set to return to the Real Madrid dugout after being one of the central campaign promises of club president Florentino Pérez.

Developed in the youth academies of Espanyol and FC Barcelona, Cucurella played for Eibar, Getafe, and Brighton before moving to Chelsea for the 2022/23 season. During his time with the London club, he captured both the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League.
“Everyone at Chelsea would like to thank Marc for his efforts during his time at the club and for the role he played in our recent achievements,” the Blues stated in their farewell message.
