“I hope this conversation continues (…). I hope the President will apply pressure,” as he has done during his recent talks with the Chinese leader, said the official, who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity. The issue of recent U.S. sanctions against China regarding the war in Iran is also expected to be addressed, he added.
Trade, customs duties, and artificial intelligence will also be on the agenda for this visit, which will take place from Wednesday to Friday, the White House announced.
Trump will arrive in Beijing on Wednesday evening (the 13th), White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly told reporters.

A welcome ceremony and a bilateral meeting with Xi Jinping will take place on Thursday morning, followed by a visit to the Temple of Heaven, a complex of Taoist temples in Beijing, in the afternoon of that day, and a state banquet in the evening, the spokesperson explained.
The two presidents will also have a working lunch on Friday before Donald Trump returns to Washington. This visit will be an opportunity to “rebalance the relationship with China and prioritize reciprocity and fairness to restore American economic independence,” Anna Kelly added.
