The environmental hygiene team of the City Beautification and Cleanup Working Group held the “Beautiful and Clean Beaches – Take Your Trash Home” initiative this Saturday (9) at Hac Sa and Cheoc Van beaches, with the aim of raising public awareness about the importance of environmental preservation.
About 100 representatives from public services and organizations participated in the cleanup operations at Hac Sa Beach, many of them accompanied by their children. During the activity, participants collected trash on the beach and sorted the waste for recycling.
The initiative aims to encourage positive environmental habits through the joint participation of parents and children, promoting ecological awareness and civic responsibility in the preservation of public spaces from an early age, according to the organizers.
In addition to the cleanup efforts, several public services set up themed tents at Hac Sa Beach, featuring games and interactive activities dedicated to raising environmental awareness. The activities addressed topics such as proper waste collection, recycling, waste reduction, marine cleanup, and mosquito prevention.

Between January and April of this year, the relevant authorities removed 117 tons of trash from the beaches and collected 83 tons of waste from the sea.
With summer approaching and the number of residents and tourists flocking to the beaches increasing, the City Beautification and Cleanup Working Group called on the public to help keep beach areas clean, encouraging everyone to take their own trash with them and to properly sort their waste.
Authorities also emphasized that reducing trash on beaches helps lessen environmental pressure on the sea and contributes to building a cleaner and more livable city.
The initiative involved the participation of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and representatives from various departments and agencies, including the Customs Service, the Health Bureau, the Marine and Water Affairs Bureau, and the Environmental Protection Bureau.
The initiative also brought together the Advisory Council for Municipal Affairs, the Community Services Advisory Councils of the three districts, IAM volunteers, and CSR Macau – Companhia de Sistemas de Resíduos, Lda.
