FC Porto was crowned Portuguese football champion today for the 31st time in its history after a 1-0 victory against Alverca. Under the guidance of Italian manager Francesco Farioli, FC Porto reached 85 points, placing them 9 points ahead of second-place Benfica and 12 points ahead of third-place Sporting, who have a game in hand.
With only two rounds remaining in the season, the lead is insurmountable.

At the Estádio do Dragão, the home team needed only a draw to secure the title but took the lead in the 41st minute with a goal from Bednarek. That scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.
In the historical record of national titles, Benfica remains the leader with 38 championships, followed by FC Porto with 31, and Sporting with 21.
