Uruguayan international left-back Maxi Araújo has renewed his contract with Sporting until June 2030, adding a year to his previous deal, the Liga I football club announced this Monday.

“Only [I feel] happiness and gratitude toward Sporting. My family and I are very happy and I hope to stay here for many years,” said the player, quoted by the lions, keeping a release clause of 80 million euros.
Maxi Araújo, 26, was signed by Sporting from Mexico’s Toluca two years ago and has scored 11 goals with 10 assists in 93 games for the green-and-whites, having won a league title and a Taça de Portugal in 2024/25, in the club’s first double in 23 years.
