The Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Sports Bureau are once again joining forces to launch the May Cultural and Sports Activities Program to promote access to culture and sports among residents. The initiative includes a wide range of events designed to strengthen community engagement and social well-being.

Among the highlights is the 36th Macao Arts Festival, themed “New Currents of Inspiration,” which runs from May 8 to June 27. The program includes 15 performances and exhibitions, covering theater, dance, music, Xiqu opera, and visual arts.

At the end of the month, the “Macau Obstacle Races 2026” will take place, an outdoor sporting event combining running and physical challenges. The first round is scheduled for May 31, featuring individual and team categories, with a second phase planned for October.

To mark International Museum Day, more than 20 cultural venues are organizing the “2026 Macau International Museum Day Carnival” on May 17. The event will take place at Lotus Square and includes activities highlighting the city’s cultural heritage.

From May 1 to 5, the “Arte à solta” event at Anim’Arte Nam Van will feature outdoor artistic performances, blending culture and tourism. The initiative aims to revitalize the urban space and attract residents and visitors.

As part of cultural promotion in neighborhoods, approximately 50 community activities are planned, including outdoor performances, musical projects, reading initiatives, and traveling exhibitions. The goal is to bring culture closer to the public and strengthen the local cultural environment.

At the same time, museums and cultural institutions are organizing workshops and guided tours, with activities ranging from traditional art to technological innovation. Initiatives to encourage reading and educational programs will also be promoted.

The Sports Institute also promotes “Dynamic Community” initiatives, in collaboration with local associations, featuring sports activities tailored to different audiences. These initiatives include tournaments, sports experiences, and inclusive programs.

The program also includes the “Health and Wellness Station” initiative, which enhances access to community health services through additional service points and extended hours.

Throughout the month, additional exhibitions, fairs, and cultural events will take place, strengthening Macao’s cultural and sports offerings and promoting active participation by the public.
