Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after nine years with the club, the English football champions announced today.
“Mohamed Salah will bring the curtain down on his incredible Liverpool career at the end of the 2025/26 season. The forward has reached an agreement with the Reds that will end a fantastic nine-year chapter,” Liverpool said on its official website.
The 33-year-old joined Liverpool in 2017 from Roma and won two Premier League titles, one Champions League, one Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one FA Cup, two League Cups, and one Community Shield.
With 255 goals in 435 appearances, Salah is the third-highest scorer in Liverpool’s history and has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times.

“Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. I want to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, and these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club, it is a passion, history, a spirit. I cannot explain it in words to someone who is not part of this club,” Salah said in a video posted on social media.
The player also remembered former teammate Diogo Jota, who died in July 2025 in a car accident along with his brother André Silva.
“We celebrated victories, won the biggest trophies, and fought together during the toughest moments of our lives,” he said, as the video showed a minute of silence at Anfield after the Portuguese forward’s death.
Salah also thanked “everyone who has been part of the club” during his time at Liverpool, especially teammates past and present, and highlighted the role of fans.

“The support you gave me at the best moment of my career and standing by me during the hardest times is something I will never forget and will carry with me for the rest of my life. Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you; this club will always be my home. Thank you. For each of you, I will ‘never walk alone,’” he concluded.
Salah, who joined the Reds in 2017/18 from Roma after spells at Fiorentina, Chelsea, and Basel, had hinted over a year ago that the 2024/25 season could be his last, but ultimately stayed one more year.
