Arsenal scored twice in the final minutes to claim their fourth consecutive Premier League win, beating Everton 2-0 at home in a historic matchday 30 fixture, extending their lead at the top of the table.
In London, Sweden’s Gyokeres — formerly of Sporting — gave the Gunners a very late lead on 89 minutes, before teenager Max Downman, just 16 years old, made history in the 90+7th minute.
Downman, who took full advantage of goalkeeper Pickford’s late charge into the Arsenal box in Everton’s last attempt to equalise, became the youngest scorer in Premier League history at 16 years, two months and 11 days, and the youngest player ever to score for Arsenal across all competitions.
The winger, brought on in the second half with the score still 0-0, already held the record as the youngest player to make his Arsenal senior debut, at 15 years and 302 days.
Hard-fought as it was, the fourth consecutive win takes Arteta’s side to a 10-point lead over Manchester City, who currently have two games in hand.
City also play in London today, away at West Ham under Nuno Espírito Santo, in a match where Bernardo Silva — if used — will equal Luís Boa Morte as the Portuguese player with most Premier League appearances in history.
Everton, who had won their previous two matches, remain eighth with 43 points.

London also hosted Newcastle’s win over Chelsea, with Anthony Gordon scoring the only goal on 18 minutes. Chelsea, who were without Pedro Neto due to suspension, sit fifth with 48 points after just one win in their last five games — though they could still be overtaken by Liverpool this round — while Newcastle are ninth with 42.
With Florentino an unused substitute, Burnley drew 0-0 at home to Bournemouth, while Brighton won away at Sunderland 1-0, with Gambian forward Yankuba Minteh scoring the only goal on 58 minutes.
