Sam Hou Fai will make his first official visit abroad in April since taking office as Chief Executive, traveling to Lisbon and Madrid in a trip that follows several postponements throughout 2025.
PLATFORM announced on March 11th, that Sam Hou Fai’s trip to Lisbon and Madrid includes a business delegation. According to the provisional program to which PLATAFORMA had access, the Chief Executive will only be in Portugal for 3 days, between April 18th and 21st, then traveling to Madrid and returning to Macau on April 23rd.
PLATAFORM sought to determine which political figures or institutions will receive Sam Hou Fai in Lisbon and Madrid, but received no response.

The visit of the Chief Executive to Portugal and Spain was several times postponed throughout 2025. In the first phase, the trip was initially scheduled before summer, but it was eventually postponed due to the legislative elections in Portugal and commitments of the Chief Executive. Later, the journey was rescheduled for September, only to be delayed again. By the end of the year, Sam Hou Fai reiterated his intention to carry out the visit in the first half of 2026, pointing to April or May.
