Sporting de Braga are now further from the Europa League quarter-finals after losing 2-0 to Ferencváros in the first leg of the round of 16, played today in Budapest.
Gabi Kanichowsky (32′) and Lenny Joseph (69′) scored for the Hungarians against a Braga side whose three previous appearances in the Europa League last 16 have all ended in progression (2010/11, 2015/16 and 2021/22).
The second leg takes place next Wednesday at 15:30 at the Estádio Municipal de Braga, with the winner meeting either Greek side Panathinaikos or Spanish side Betis in the quarter-finals.
