Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the Cincinnati tournament, running from Thursday through August 23, due to a wrist injury, organizers of the American Masters 1000 event announced on Tuesday.
“We know that Carlos is doing everything possible to return to competition as soon as possible,” tournament director Bob Moran said in a statement.

He added: “We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to welcome him back to Cincinnati in the future.”
Alcaraz had already withdrawn from the Montreal Masters 1000 in Canada and hasn’t competed since April due to the wrist injury, having missed Roland Garros and Wimbledon after winning the Australian Open.
