American actress and singer Barbra Streisand will receive an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in May in France, the organisation announced today.
Last week, the festival had already revealed that New Zealand director Peter Jackson will also be honoured with the honorary Palme d’Or for his artistic career in cinema.
Barbra Streisand, 83, “is a legendary union between Broadway and Hollywood, between the stages of musicals and the big screen. Hearing her sing and watching her perform are part of our best years,” said festival director Thierry Frémaux in a statement.
