Cristiano Ronaldo flees Saudi Arabia due to the conflict in Iran

Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have left Saudi Arabia in the middle of the night, according to flight tracking, heading to Madrid on a nearly seven-hour journey that suggests the footballer's exit from the Middle East amid the region's escalating military tensions.

Ronaldo’s private jet, a Bombardier Global Express valued at around 70 million euros, departed from Riyadh at 8:00 PM (local time) and arrived in the Spanish capital around 1:00 AM (Spanish time), according to the Daily Mail newspaper.

Riad, where Ronaldo resides with his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez and their five children, has been targeted by Iranian attacks in retaliation for the military campaign launched by the United States and Israel on Saturday.

During the night, two drones hit the American embassy in the Saudi capital, increasing tension and reinforcing the context of insecurity which will have motivated Ronaldo’s departure from the country.

Up until now, the player has not publicly commented on the trip, but the movement of his private jet indicates that the Portuguese star sought to ensure the safety of his family in light of the escalation of the conflict in the Gulf.

The episode generated widespread reaction on social media, with followers and fans keeping up to date in real time with Ronaldo’s flight and commenting on the player’s decision to temporarily leave Saudi Arabia.
