Macau confirms mail service to Portugal has returned to normal after storms

Macau’s postal service said on Tuesday that letter and parcel deliveries from the Chinese region to Portugal have resumed following storms that affected Portuguese territory

In a statement, the Direção dos Serviços de Correios e Telecomunicações said that “the delivery service for postal items, previously affected by adverse weather conditions in the country, has now returned to normal,” according to information from CTT – Correios de Portugal.

The statement from Macau Post came hours after Hongkong Post, the department responsible for postal services in neighboring Hong Kong, said that mail delivery to Portugal was already operating without disruption.

The 2021 census indicates that more than 2,200 people born in Portugal live in Macau. The latest estimate provided to Lusa by the Consulate-General of Portugal pointed to around 155,000 Portuguese passport holders among residents of Macau and Hong Kong.

On 2 February, postal services in Macau and Hong Kong had warned that letters and parcels destined for Portugal could face delays due to the destruction caused by Storm Kristin.
