During the mainland Chinese holiday period from the 15th to the 23rd, the city recorded an average of 172,699 daily visitors. This represents a 5.5 percent increase from the previous year and edges past the daily average of 171,702 recorded in 2019. Notably, single-day arrivals reached a record high of 227,000 on the third day of the Lunar New Year (the 19th).

The extended nine-day Golden Week — one day longer than the previous year’s — drew more than 1.2 million visitors from mainland China. This translates to a daily average of over 133,000, marking a 7.2 percent year-over-year increase. Conversely, arrivals from neighboring Hong Kong totaled 250,800; the daily average of roughly 27,000 reflects a 3.5 percent decline from the previous holiday period.

Among mainland tourists, the Portas do Cerco (Border Gate) remained the primary entry point, processing an average of more than 62,412 people daily. It was followed by the Hengqin Port and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, which handled 30,236 and 16,447 daily crossings, respectively. For Hong Kong visitors, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge was the preferred route, averaging 16,625 daily users. The Border Gate (3,423) and the Taipa Ferry Terminal (3,343) followed, processing roughly twice the volume of the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal (1,680).

Broader border traffic also surged. The Public Security Police Force (CPSP) reported a total of 5.96 million border crossings during the nine-day period. The daily average of 663,000 crossings marked a 7.9 percent increase from the previous Lunar New Year. The Border Gate, Qingmao Port, Hengqin Port, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge collectively accounted for 90 percent of the total volume.

By comparison, during the eight-day Lunar New Year Golden Week in 2025, total visitor arrivals stood at 1.3 million, averaging 163,000 per day. Of those, 1 million were from the mainland — a 3.2 percent decrease compared to the 2024 Golden Week. Arrivals from Hong Kong also saw a downturn, falling 8.9 percent from 2024 to 231,000.
