Macau Police report 21 injuries in fireworks burning area

The report was released after several days of operation of the area during Lunar New Year celebrations. Authorities have warned about the risks associated with the use of pyrotechnic materials and have urged compliance with safety rules.

Since the opening of the fireworks-burning area in Taipa on February 16, 21 injury cases have been recorded, mostly minor burns, according to the Police Services Unit. The release of this data aims to raise awareness of the dangers of lanterns, rockets, and fireworks, and to reinforce prevention through inspections and awareness campaigns.

In coordination with various public services, authorities conducted inspections of pyrotechnic storage areas in Macau as well as the authorized site in Taipa. The lantern-burning area closed at midnight on the 22nd, marking the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.
