Sands China earned four Top 3 rankings and one Top 10 ranking, and a Hong Kong Business Sustainability Index 10th Anniversary Decade of Excellence Award – Sustainability Progress.

Sands China Ltd. has achieved significant recognition in the 2025 Business Sustainability Indices (BSI) issued by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, earning Exemplar status in five categories, including four Top 3 rankings.

This marks the first time an integrated tourism and leisure enterprise in Macao has secured a Top 3 position in the BSI.

The company also received the Hong Kong Business Sustainability Index 10th Anniversary Decade of Excellence Award – Sustainability Progress, highlighting its advancement in sustainable management and its broader environmental and social contributions.

Established in 2015, the BSI evaluates companies based on value, process, and impact—focusing on vision, management practices, and contributions to society, the environment, and stakeholders.

For 2025, the index assessed 385 listed companies across Hong Kong, Taiwan, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and global hotel groups.

Sands China ranked among the top three in four major categories:

  • Global (Asia-Pacific) Business Sustainability Index
  • Greater China Business Sustainability Index
  • Greater Bay Area Business Sustainability Index
  • Hong Kong Business Sustainability Index

The company also achieved a Top 10 ranking in the Greater China Hotel Business Sustainability Index, achieving the highest Exemplar rating across all five categories.

These results acknowledge the company’s strong integration of sustainability principles into its business model and its ability to balance stakeholder needs effectively.

Grant Chum, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd., said: “Sands China is honoured to receive multiple recognitions from the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Business Sustainability Indices for our sustainable development initiatives, and we are proud to have won the Hong Kong Business Sustainability Index 10th Anniversary Decade of Excellence Award – Sustainability Progress, testifying to the remarkable progress we have made in our environmental, social and governance strategies over the years. We will continue to fulfil our corporate social responsibility, integrate sustainable development into all aspects of our business, and optimise measures to benefit environmental and social development, setting a benchmark for the industry. We sincerely thank our team members, suppliers, and community partners for their full cooperation and support in contributing to building a sustainable future.”

He noted the company’s continued efforts to strengthen its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and contribute to industry-wide progress.

Sands China has continued to implement wide-ranging sustainability initiatives, focusing on energy efficiency, emissions reduction, resource recycling, and environmental protection.

In July, the company fully replaced all plastic water bottles in its operations with reusable or sustainable alternatives, fulfilling its plastic reduction commitment on schedule.

These sustainability efforts reflect the company’s alignment with Las Vegas Sands’ People, Planet and Communities platform, supported through initiatives such as the Sands ECO360 global sustainability strategy, the Sands Cares programme, and the Sands China Academy.

Through these programmes, the company continues to generate economic value and social impact while reinforcing its role as an engaged corporate citizen in Macao.
