Macau vows HK$30 mln for Hong Kong fire relief

Macau’s government has pledged HK$30 million (US$3.85 million / MOP30.88 million) to support the ongoing relief efforts in Hong Kong after a fierce blaze left a large part of a housing estate charred, with 128 dead and 200 missing.

As per a Friday statement, the Macau government said that the two special administrative regions share a ‘special brotherly bond’ and a ‘long‑standing cultural connection,’ alongside close economic and trade ties.

‘To express the solidarity of the Macau SAR with the people of Hong Kong in facing difficulties and challenges together, the Macau SAR Government has decided to make a donation to the Hong Kong SAR,’ the statement read.
