The proposal includes “the recognition of [the annexation of] Crimea and other regions taken by Russia” and “the reduction of the army to 400,000 personnel,” said the Ukrainian official, who requested to remain anonymous, to the news agency France-Presse.
“We are receiving signals that we have to accept this plan,” the source indicated. The proposal comes on the same day that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky traveled to Turkey to meet with Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a visit aimed at reviving the currently stalled peace talks with Moscow.
