New toll indicates 142 dead After Typhoon hits the Philippines

At least 142 people have died and 127 are missing following the passage of Typhoon Kalmaegi through central Philippines, according to official data compiled today by the France-Presse news agency (AFP).

The Philippines’ National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council confirmed 114 deaths, in addition to 28 fatalities reported by authorities in Cebu province, in the central part of the country. The previous toll from the Philippines’ civil protection agency reported 85 dead and 75 missing.
