Sands China Ltd. has launched a series of new family-friendly benefits, effective since Sept. 1, for eligible team members welcoming newborns – letting them enjoy a maximum of six days of paid Child Care Leave, one-hour daily exemptions from work, and regular work shifts without rotation.
Sands China Ltd. has rolled out new family-friendly benefits to support team members welcoming newborns, further strengthening its commitment to building a caring and inclusive workplace that promotes family harmony.
The new initiatives, effective since September 1, 2025, are available to all eligible full-time employees.
One of the key measures is providing up to six days of paid Child Care Leave, which can be used within the first year after childbirth for medical appointments or vaccinations.
Another highlight is the “Parenthood Support Shift,” which provides employees with newborns or expectant parents with regular work shifts without rotation and up to 90 consecutive daily one-hour work exemptions, offering greater flexibility to balance childcare and career responsibilities.
Paulo Cheong, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Sands China Ltd., said: “Family is a vital source of strength for our teams. As Macao’s largest private employer with over 27,000 employees, Sands China has long supported the Macao SAR government’s family-friendly policies, cultivating a people-oriented corporate culture by providing flexible and diverse workplace measures for team members with family care needs. To further strengthen our family support to them, we are introducing the new Parenthood Support Shift and a range of family-friendly measures for new parents. These initiatives help foster a compassionate and understanding work environment, enabling our team members to balance career and family responsibilities as they embrace this new chapter in life – while achieving a mutually beneficial situation for both employees and the company.”
These new benefits complement Sands China’s existing policies for parents. Female team members with at least one year of service are eligible for 70 days of paid maternity leave, while male employees can take five consecutive days of paid paternity leave within 30 days of their child’s birth.
Over the years, Sands China has consistently fostered a family-friendly workplace by offering nursing rooms, lockers and parking spaces in back-of-house areas, priority bus seating for pregnant employees, as well as parenting activities, educational workshops, and baby gift distributions.
These measures reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment where families can thrive.
