Rio de Janeiro police are investigating the death of Sther Barroso dos Santos, 22, who was beaten to death after being taken from a funk party in a community in the city’s west zone in the early hours of Sunday (17).
According to family members, Sther was beaten by traffickers from the TCP faction (Third Pure Command) when she refused to have sexual relations with Bruno da Silva Loureiro, known as Coronel, identified as one of the group’s drug bosses.
The criminals left Sther’s body at her doorstep and fled immediately. The young woman was taken to a municipal hospital but arrived lifeless, according to hospital officials.
On social media, her sister, Stéfany Couto, paid tribute and demanded justice. “A married man, with daughters! He cowardly took my sister’s life, delivered her dead, disfigured. He ended her life in the place where we were rebuilding ours,” she wrote.
Who is Coronel?
Released in 2017 after serving part of a five-year sentence for drug trafficking association and illegal possession of a firearm, Coronel began flaunting on social media, showing off jewelry.
He also frequently appears online making gestures referencing the faction, surrounded by images of assault rifles.
According to investigations, witnesses reported that he habitually kills rivals with rifle fire and then concretes the bodies, dumping the blocks in rivers.
