Tournament Summary & Scale
The 2025 Macau Open Badminton, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 event, was held July 29–August 3 at the Macao East Asian Games Dome.
Co-organised by Sands China Ltd. and the Badminton Federation of Macau (BFM), with support from the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, this year’s edition offered a record-high US$370,000 prize pool, up from US$210,000 in 2024.
Record Entries & Elite Line-up
A total of 442 players from 29 countries and regions submitted entries—the highest ever—with 269 qualifying.
Notable contenders included Olympic gold medallists Chen Yufei and Chen Qingchen (China), returning men’s singles champion Angus Ng Ka Long (Hong Kong), Indonesian world No. 8 duo Sabar Gutama & Moh Isfahani, and Malaysia’s mixed doubles World Tour Finals runners-up Chen Tang Jie & Toh Ee Wei.
Local representation spanned all five disciplines through six Macao athletes.

Community Inclusion & CSR
On July 29, ‘Sands Cares Presents: Up Close and Personal with Badminton Legend’ at Macau University of Science and Technology promoted social inclusion.
Olympic champions Cai Yun and Goh V Shem engaged over 100 participants from Macau Special Olympics, Macau Deaf Association, and Macau Association of Support for the Disabled—sharing career insights and providing hands-on coaching.
The initiative aligns with Sands China’s support of “tourism + sport” and the three upcoming National Games in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao.
