
Around 20 Form 4 students from Macau Anglican College explore career paths at Sands China June 18-20 at The Venetian Macao during Sands China’s Diverse Exploration Lab. The three days of up-close and hands-on experiences throughout the integrated resort sought to promote local youth’s professional development and facilitate the growth of the local talent pool for Macao’s moderate economic diversification.
Programme Overview & Objectives
From June 18–20, 2025, nearly 20 Form 4 students from Macau Anglican College immersed themselves in Sands China’s Diverse Exploration Lab at The Venetian Macao.
Aligned with the Macao SAR Government’s “academic, employment, entrepreneurial and career” strategy, the three-day activity aimed to broaden students’ understanding of the tourism industry and aid their future academic and career planning.
Hands-On Department Explorations
Participants rotated through key resort functions, gaining interactive, behind-the-scenes exposure to:
- Entertainment operations
- Hotel operations
- Food & beverage management
- E-commerce and cybersecurity
- MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions)
- Facilities management
Exclusive Site Tours & Workshops
Students toured signature venues, including The Venetian Theatre, teamLab SuperNature Macao, and Cotai Expo’s ballrooms and meeting rooms. Additional highlights included:
- A lunch chat with Sands China’s Integrated Resort Business Analyst Development Programme team
- A DiSC personality profiling workshop to align personal strengths with career paths
Leadership Perspective
Paulo Cheong, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Sands China Ltd., emphasized that over the past 20 years, Sands China’s properties have created 1,400+ job types and 80,000+ positions for Macau residents.
He noted that close collaboration with local schools equips the next generation with industry insights, hoping to inspire more youth to pursue careers that contribute to Macau’s development as a world centre of tourism and leisure.
Ongoing Career Exploration Initiatives
Mirroring the goals of its Diverse Exploration Lab, Sands China has supported the Education and Youth Development Bureau’s career exploration visits for three consecutive years.
This year’s series included tours and hands-on sessions—such as bed-making and decorative balloon preparation—for students from Saint Joseph Secondary School, Macau Anglican College, and Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College.
