Thanks to a quirk known as unconscious selective attention, your brain has learned to ignore your nose. A prominent facial feature positioned close to the eyes, the nose could obstruct our vision, but the nervous system intelligently filters it out.

You can, however, choose to look for your nose. Close one eye or look left, right or down and it will appear.
