Brazilian law enforcement authorities have launched a major, coordinated crackdown on the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents today, April 28, 2026. This extensive initiative, titled “Operação Nacional Proteção Integral IV,” is being carried out simultaneously across all 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District, marking a significant mobilization of resources to combat crimes that disproportionately affect minors, particularly within the digital environment.

The operation has mobilized a total of 503 Federal Police agents alongside 243 Civil Police officers from across the country.

According to official reports, authorities are executing 159 search and seizure warrants and 16 arrest warrants. This nationwide effort is part of a broader, multi-country initiative known as “Operação Internacional Aliados pela Infância VI,” which seeks to dismantle transnational criminal networks involved in the violation of the sexual dignity of children.

The international scope of this action underscores the cross-border nature of digital abuse. In addition to Brazil, law enforcement agencies in 15 other countries are conducting coordinated operations, including Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.

By synchronizing these efforts, participating nations aim to improve intelligence sharing and the apprehension of suspects involved in the production, storage, and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The operation also serves as a strategic precursor to “Maio Laranja” (Orange May), an annual awareness campaign in Brazil dedicated to the prevention and combat of sexual violence against children and adolescents.

The timing is designed to reinforce the state’s commitment to public safety and the protection of vulnerable youth as the country prepares for the upcoming awareness month. According to data provided by the Federal Police, the corporation has already successfully executed at least 450 arrest warrants for individuals wanted for sexual crimes since the beginning of 2026, demonstrating an ongoing intensification of enforcement efforts.

Federal Police officials emphasized that while law enforcement action is critical, the prevention of these crimes requires a collective and proactive approach. Authorities continue to stress the necessity of parental and guardian supervision in the digital realm, urging families to maintain open dialogues with minors about online safety and to promptly report any suspicious activity, which remains a cornerstone of the broader strategy to reduce risks and safeguard children.
