Turkish Airlines has announced a temporary suspension of its flight operations to Angola, with services grounded between May 3 and November 25, 2026. The airline cited the sharp rise in global fuel prices, exacerbated by the current geopolitical instability in the Middle East, as the primary driver behind this operational pause.

In an official notification delivered to the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) on April 27, the carrier stated that its decision is based on “factors external to the operation,” emphasizing that the measure is strictly temporary and that it intends to resume flights as soon as operational conditions stabilize.

The relationship between the Turkish carrier and Angolan authorities appears to remain positive, with officials highlighting that the suspension is unfolding within a framework of high institutional cooperation. This ongoing dialogue includes established processes related to the regulation and repatriation of revenue, which are being managed through recognized institutional mechanisms.

The ANAC confirmed that it is actively monitoring the situation within the scope of its regulatory and supervisory duties, ensuring that the necessary oversight is maintained while the airline pauses its Angolan route.

Despite the departure of Turkish Airlines from the Luanda market for the coming months, the Angolan capital remains well-connected to several major international destinations.

The aviation landscape in Luanda continues to be served by a diverse range of global carriers, including TAP Air Portugal, Air France, Lufthansa, Royal Air Maroc, Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Airlink, and South African Airways, alongside the national flag carrier, TAAG. This existing network of operators is expected to provide continued stability for passengers traveling to and from the region throughout the duration of the suspension.
