Macau welcomed over half (50.9 per cent) of the total number of outbound visits by mainland tourists, with Hong Kong ranking second at 26.6 per cent and Taiwan third at 2.33 per cent, as indicated in a statement by the Government Information Bureau.
In the first six months of 2023, the SAR witnessed 11.6 million visitor arrivals, out of which 7.5 million were tourists from the mainland. The figure for mainland visitors represented a recovery to 52.7 per cent of what was recorded in the same six-month period of pre-pandemic 2019.
