The Ukrainian president announced that he had sent letters to the Turkish president and the secretary general of the United Nations, stating that both this organization and that country can guarantee that the food corridor remains in operation.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, asked the UN and Turkey this Monday to extend, without the participation of Russia, the initiative that allows the export of Ukrainian cereals through the Black Sea, after the departure of Moscow.
“I have sent official letters to the President of Turkey [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan and the Secretary General of the UN, [António] Guterres, with the proposal to continue the Black Sea Grains Initiative or its equivalent in a trilateral format”, highlighted Zelensky, in his usual evening address to the nation.
Kiev authorities want the international community to guarantee, even without Moscow’s agreement, freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, violated by the Russian army since it launched the large-scale military invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
