State of emergency declared in New York. Floods have already caused one death

At least one person died this Sunday in the US state of New York due to floods that forced the governor to declare a state of emergency.

A woman has died trying to leave her home with her dog in the Hudson Valley, swept away by a flash flood, several media reported.

Governor Kathy Hochul declared states of emergency in Orange and Ontario counties as heavy rainfall created “life-threatening conditions due to flash flooding”.

“We are reaching a tipping point in this meteorological phenomenon,” said Hochul.
