Boxer of the Ukrainian national team dies in the Battle of Bakhmut

Ukrainian national team boxer Oleksandr Onyshchenko died in combat near the city of Bakhmut, in eastern Ukraine, where he was fighting with his country’s army against Russian forces, announced the Boxing Federation of Ukraine.

“Oleksandr died near Bakhmut defending the Ukrainian homeland from the Russian enemy”, announced the Federation in a statement published on its Facebook page, expressing “its sincere condolences to the family”.

Oleksandr Onyshchenko was the Ukrainian junior champion and won several tournaments played in his country, such as the Carpathian sports competition, Kuzhelny and Arsyonov.
