Chinese President Xi Jinping has landed in Moscow to begin a three-day official visit to Russia, which includes an informal lunch with his host, Vladimir Putin.
Xi Jinping was received on a red carpet by a military band that played the anthems of both countries and by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, according to Russian state media.
The Chinese president arrived in Moscow stressing that his first state visit to Russia since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine would give “a new impetus” to bilateral ties.
“I am confident that the visit will be fruitful and will give new impetus to the healthy and stable development of Sino-Russian relations,” said the president on the runway at Vnukovo airport in Moscow, referring to the two countries as “good neighbors ” and “reliable partners”.
