WHO rules out ‘significant’ impact of Covid-19 from China in Europe

The current outbreak of covid-19 cases in China is not expected to have a “significant” impact in Europe, as variants circulating in the Asian giant are already present in the Old Continent – the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday (10).

The increase of cases in China “should not have a significant impact on the epidemiological situation of covid-19 in the European region,” WHO regional director Hans Kluge said in an online press conference.

In that context, Kluge called on European countries to take “proportionate and non-discriminatory” measures toward travelers from China.
