South Korea’s top military officials said on Monday that North Korea had fired more than 130 artillery rounds in the coastal zone, aggravating the situation between Seoul and Pyongyang.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said the projectiles hit the north of the buffer zone created in 2018 as part of the agreement between the two Koreas to reduce military tensions.
At this time, there is no indication that North Korean fire eventually reached South Korea or South Korean territorial waters.
