Ukraine claims it has discovered four ‘torture sites’ used by Russians in Kherson

The Ukrainian Public Prosecutor’s Office said on Monday that it had discovered four “torture sites” used by the Russians as they occupied Kherson, a town in southern Ukraine that Kiev’s forces recaptured on November 11.

“In Kherson, prosecutors continue to determine Russia’s crimes,” the Ukrainian MP said on Telegram. The message states that authorities have found “torture sites in four buildings”.

Among the four buildings visited by the researchers are pre-war “pre-trial detention centres”, “where, during the takeover of the city, the occupiers illegally detained people and brutally tortured them”.

Investigators seized “pieces of rubber batons, a wooden bat, a device used by the occupants to electrocute civilians, a light bulb and bullets”, the source explained, ten days after the Ukrainian army retook Kherson.

“The work to establish the places of torture and illegal detention of people continues”, said the Public Ministry, which noted that it also wants to “identify all the victims”.
