Lucky Luke’s album returns in October, in vegan mode

Publisher Dargaud has announced that Lucky Luke’s new album will be titled “L’arche de Rantanplan”, something like “The Ark of Rantanplan”, with an obvious reference to Noah’s vessel.

Achdé, the pseudonym of Hervé Damenton, who took over the series in 2003, after the death of Morris (1923-2001), works for the fourth consecutive album with screenwriter Jul. Based on a true event, as so often happens in the stories of the “cowboy who shoots faster than his own shadow”, in this case the creation of the Society for the Protection of Animals in the United States, the two authors proceed with an account of an unexpected theme.

In fact, the press release evokes Veggie Town, a Texas town converted to respect for animals, where “hunters no longer sell fur, Indians no longer hunt bison and cowboys no longer eat meat.”

After approaching racism in the previous album, “Um cowboy in the cotton business” (2020), Achdé and Jul return with a very current theme, in an adventure that promises “shaky and full of fur, feathers and… tar”.

The cover, already released, shows a Lucky Luke looking lost, surrounded by a heterogeneous group of animals, including a pig, a cow, a bear, a frog, a rattlesnake, a rabbit and a turtle.
