Christmas canceled in London. New and more contagious variant of the virus requires new confinement
The capital and southeast of the country will be under the maximum alert level because of the spread of the new coronavirus. New strain “is 70% more contagious”.
The rise in new cases and the new variant of the coronavirus forced the British government to back down on easing restrictions at Christmas. “We cannot continue with Christmas as planned,” he said.
In a press conference, the British Prime Minister announced a further increase in the level of alert that amounts to confinement. The affected regions are the capital, London, and the south-east of the country.
