In 15 days, Amazon already has more fire than in all October 2019 and 2018
Fires are constantly growing compared to 2019; October last year, however, had the historic low for the month
October burnings in the Amazon already exceed the fire records of the same entire month in the last two years.
The Queimadas Program, by Inpe (National Institute for Space Research), until the 15th of this month, registered 10,834 fires in the Amazon. The figure is already 38% higher than in 2019 – the year that had the lowest historical fire for the month, after the Armed Forces acted in the forest between the end of August and September. The difference is only 1%, for now, compared to October 2018.
