French multinational Total is building a giant, armored wall in Afungi, Palma to protect the $ 20 billion project to extract liquefied natural gas in Rovuma.
The wall is 3.5 meters high and an extension not estimated, is being erected in recent months. According to the newspaper Carta, which was at the site, this fence mainly protects the residential areas of the camp.
The same source maintains that there are no indications on the ground that the fence will be extended to cover all facilities in Afungi. The construction of the wall is part of ensuring the safety of the project, commented an analyst.
