Project has the stamp of the French company Total, in partnership with China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and has generated much criticism
Despite the global drop in oil prices, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic that is plaguing the world, the French oil company Total is ahead of an investment of the order of US $ 20 billion for the construction of a 1400 km pipeline in East Africa that will connect Tanga, on the coast of Tanzania, to Lake Alberto in Uganda.
However, the work has not generated constructive and positive criticism. Several international experts have already made it public that the megalomaniac project will displace thousands of small farmers and put the main habitats of wildlife at risk, as well as the coastal waters of the Indian Ocean.
