Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu is due to meet the player’s father this week. Jorge Messi will try to find a friendly way out for his son
A meeting between Josep Maria Bartomeu, president of Barcelona, and Jorge Messi, father of the Argentine star, could take place this Wednesday in Catalonia, according to “Mundo Deportivo”.
The culé club will insist on the issue of contract renewal for shirt 10 until the 2022/2023 season, after the end of the Qatar World Cup. The Blaugranas are not willing to talk about a Lionel Messi exit, but mainly for a free exit.
The club is backed by the contract and is confident, according to its lawyers, that the Argentine cannot leave without paying a 700 million euro (more than 4 billion) clause imposed in the agreement.
